The countries we visit for our JW Bible Lands tours have different requirements and processes for obtaining a tourist visa. Please carefully take your time to see what is required for you, based on the passport you hold.
The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is a pre-screening program designed to improve security for travelers who want to visit Europe for short stays.
The pre-screening process is a vital part of ETIAS, as it determines whether a traveler poses a risk before they enter the region.
It’s important to know how this process works if you’re planning to visit Europe without a visa.
Travelers from countries outside the European Union (EU), but who don’t require a visa, are subject to ETIAS pre-screening. This includes citizens from countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia, among others.
This process is easier than applying for a visa and mainly looks at security, health, and migration risks. By ensuring that visa-exempt travelers undergo this pre-screening, Europe aims to balance ease of travel with security.
It’s important to note that this process applies only to those planning to stay for up to 90 days in a Schengen Area country.
The first step for travelers is to complete an online application, where travelers provide basic details like passport information, travel history, and personal data.
The system then checks this information against security databases like Interpol, Europol, and Frontex.
Most applications are processed in minutes since the process is automated. However, if there are issues, such as missing or incorrect data, further checks might be needed.
After everything is verified, the traveler will receive a decision on their ETIAS application.
PLEASE NOTE. AS OF AUGUST 2024 ALL CANADIAN PASSPORT HOLDERS MUST APPLY FOR A TOURIST.
Step 1 - Gather the following documents :
Step 2 - Choose the application method :
IMPORTANT: if applying by mail, please use a CERTIFIED envelope to send all documents and send a CERTIFIED RETURN envelope (with your address on it) to return the passport once the visa has been issued. Do not apply for a visa more than 90 days before your departure date, otherwise your application may be automatically refused.
NOTE : If you are making a money order, please make it payable to the Consulate General of Egypt in Montreal (if applying to the Consulate) or to the Embassy of Egypt in Ottawa (if applying to the Embassy).
